Minimal Invasive Surgery Congress

The 18th Tripartite meeting in Minimal Invasive Surgery took place on February 27th and 28th at the Starling hotel in Geneva. This congress is the continuation of the well-established «Dreiländertreffen in Minimal Invasiver Chirurgie» that has been held every year in turn in one of the three German speaking countries, by the corresponding national society in minimal invasive surgery.

The Chirurgische Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Minimal-Invasive Chirurgie (CAMIC) of Germany, the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Minimal Invasive Chirurgie (AMIC) from Austria or the Swiss Association of Thoracoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgery (SALTS) recently renamed Swiss-MIS, compose the Tripartite meeting.

This year was Switzerland’s turn to organize the meeting, jointly with the Association Suisse Romande de Chirurgie Coelioscopique (ASRCC). At this occasion, a 4th country – France, with the Société Française de Chirurgie Endoscopique (SFCE) – was invited as a guest.

In the scientific program, the popular ASRCC «Flash session were maintained: new and hot in MIS», and the traditional «Best MIS video award». As per «Dreiländertreffen» practice, eminent speakers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland were selected to talk on hot topics. This year French and other international opinion leaders were invited to share their experience. This interactive meeting and international get together, featured case presentations where international experts confronted their opinions on controversial clinical scenarios. Finally, talks on a more philosophical dimension of minimal invasive surgery practice were organized.

Close to 200 participants and multiple sponsors made this conference and exhibition a success before the lock-down.
